Overview of the PMI-RMP Certification

PMI-RMP Certification: The Process

Once the candidate starts filling the form he is offered a deadline of 90 days to complete the application. For the next 10 days, an application completeness review is conducted. Once complete, the payment process begins. Post completion of payment process, they are eligible for appearing for the test.

Based on the response to the application process, the audit process commences. Every candidate is given 90 days to submit the audit documents. Once the audit documents are received and appraised the panel review begins. Role delineation in the form of a job analysis aids at this point. The tasks and responsibilities within each role are defined at this stage. This serves as the blueprint for a multiple choice examination. The validity of the test is for one year. A candidate can appear up to three times a year for the test.

The day the candidate has passed the exam, the certification cycle begins. He is then offered the credential. Credential Maintenance goes on for a period of three years. The candidate is required to earn and report 30 professional development units. Post this the credential renewal takes place.

Credential renewal can be applied for after completing 30 professional development units. At this point, a renewal fee is levied. Credential suspension is levied if the candidate fails to complete 30 professional development units within three years. Thereafter, the requirements towards credential maintenance and renewal are altered. If a candidate fails to fulfill the Continuing Certification Requirements, the credential is expired. To avoid this, the candidate must fulfill all credential maintenance and renewal requirements.

Once the credential has expired, the candidate is required to reapply for the entire process.
